06 Grand Suzuki Vitara

My 2001 Grand Vitara has been something of a lemon.
I have been getting the ticking noise everyone else has been complaining about, as well as a few others.

Not such a big deal, but it's a pain, if my son's door is open in the back I cannot open the front door. Also, we recently found out the engine is leaking oil in "just about every place it could be" according to dealer and second opinion at local Firestone. Pearson Cars4 X 42006 06 Suzuki Grand Vitara 1. Also, my A/C compressor went up before this summer and in Virginia you need it, especially sitting in Northern Virginia traffic. The other problem I had with it is the doors you have to open the front door first or the molding gets bent between front and back door and eventually comes off.

I'm suspecting it's the Electronic Control Module (I'm hoping) which has an 8 year or 80,000 mile warranty.

The road holding is also reasonably good on dry asphalt road, but it cannot match a Toyota RAV4.

I do not recommend this vehicle to boiling point of compound anyone.
. However In wet conditions the Bridgestone Dueler H/T 687 behaved so badly that I would not want them even if I could get them for free. I was considering buying one at a dealer for AUS$20,000 but not a chance now.

We have most of the problems mentioned above. Hello dear Grand Vitara owners and potential buyers. You have to open the front door first or the molding gets bent between front and back door and eventually comes off.
The timing chains had to be replaced at 58,000 km.

Ours has the Green paint with Silver moldings and the clear coat has failed badly in several areas. In nca nationals dallas 2005 after sight, I surely would have demanded that the dealer changed them before accepting delivery of the car.

My air con seems to be fine even though Guam is a very hot place.

P"What things have gone wrong with the car? The front seats wore out prematurely.
Now at 4 years it's happening again. It also easy to park; The power assisted steering is light and the turn circle radius is small for the size of the car.
Dealer said it's the right one, but I can't get it to fit and the manual says nothing about it. The warranty is Jamaica is a ridiculous one year and 12,000 miles, so I had to pay the repair bill. Rear door moldings are shot, Front seat covers are torn at the lumbar area as the metal brackets were never de-Burred and the sharp edge cut right through the fabric.
Anyone else with similar oil leaks? Hi, All,I have a 2001 GV.
Although it shifts balky, almost truck-like, I would recommend buying the manual. I traded it body pump kansas city in last September for a 2004 and now with only 3,772 miles on it, it won't start and I cannot figure out why. My timing chain also makes a lot of rattling, now the newest thing is that when it goes into low gear it jerks violently then settles. Regardless the timing chain problems, I really like the V6 engine. So now I have to tow it to an auto shop. It is smooth and has a lot of torque. They started to rattle at 45,000 km. The Vitara is comfortable and easy to drive in city traffic. I guess they make a pretty good bike, but their cars are certainly not worth what they ask. Dear All, Thanks for your comments on this vehicle.
As well this car has ridiculous rust problems for a 1999 with only 133,000kms on it.
I don't think the air conditioning could handle the Aussie sun, and secondly with 45,000km on it, it looks like the timing chain is on the way out. Does anybody have any experience if there is a chance to claim the repair under 36000mile warranty (although 3yrs)? Something like that falls under a "goodwill" category, meaning the dealer legally doesn't have to do the repair for free, but might be willing to in order to keep you as a customer. But its impossible to find rims for the bolt pattern, the seats break really quickly, and my car won't go into 4wd anymore.

Two other reason why I would think twice about buying another Vitara are 1) the cost of the pare parts and 2) the fact that is impossible to get technical information and/or repair manuals for the V6.
1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara CommentsCarsurvey. At first I thought it was the battery, but after checking, the battery was fine.
The warranty is no longer good and the cost is TOO much to get it fixed now. Thanks for saving me lots of cash.
It is not a cheap fix because mechanics have to take out the engine to fix it so most of your cost is for labor. I have recently had the side door trim failure and now I have an oil leak from either the engine or transmission, which only drips oil on a florida and s corp very steep uphill grade back to town, which in turn smokes under the hood after parking. The air conditioner went on my about a year ago and I have not taken it to get fixed because I live in New York and I can handle the summers here. I have no idea why this is happening, if anyone has had a similar issue, can driving ontario to florida they please e-mail me, I would like to know what might be wrong before winter comes along (Kenneth_Tang98@hotmail. The day after I received the vehicle back from the timing chain repair, the air conditioner failed.
Even with the windows tinted, the unit could not handle the Jamaican midday sun in city traffic. From the comments made it appears the faults are not random. It has been a great little car for driving up and down steep grades in the mountains, although the air cond. No matter what the driving conditions, this should have be replaced under warranty.

org Home Suzuki Grand Vitara 1999 Review Comments 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara from Jamaica Comments "Although I like the way it drives, my brain tells me to get rid of it A.

I purchased a 2001 Grand Vitara 4x4 in 2003 w/30k miles. As I have found out by now on the brandon call dicamillo prank Internet, this is quit a common problem with Suzuki GV. Driving the Vitara, I also started to appreciate why so many city dwellers love to drive today's SUV. It's life does not seem to be very long for the cost of the vehicle. The repairing cost is very high (about $1200/£750).
I hate to take it into Suzuki because every time I took the 1999 in they told me there was nothing wrong with it and keep driving until it gets worse.
After reading a lot of the reviews here it seems the best case scenario is that you and the dealer end up splitting the costs.
First off this car is amazing in Canadian Winter I would like to comment. Sitting high, you see better what happens around you. With only 32000 miles (5yrs), the engine started to give a ticking noise a week ago. I would not buy another, they are junk! I would never buy a Suzuki again. I too have a 99 Grand Vitara, it seems that I am suffering from an all too common problem, in that my ac compressor died an early death. Power is still good with 77,000 Mi and no timing belt problems, but I'll be changing that as soon as I get it running again.
